I live in SE VA (Tidewater) near the World Headquarters of PETA - here we refer to them as "People Embarrassing the Tidewater Area". I have a friend that worked at one of the shelters PETA contracted with. PETA were supposed to place those animals with the Va Beach Shelter since the population here is much larger. They were supposed to be put in loving homes. PETA lied from the beginning. What PETA did was euthanize the dogs in the back of a van and dump them into the metal garbage containers behind a shopping center in the middle of the night. They did this more than once. When the PETA members Caught in the act and arrested, the PETA organization nlamed it on 'rouge employees". The orignial shelter staffs remain devastated. They thought they were working with honorable people that cared. It has been horrible for them. Sorry to rant on - I try to tell everyone what PETA really is and how they really treat animals.
